My Top 10 - Beauty Products

heyoo :0)

So for my first official post, i thought id do something fun so you can get to know my style better.
This is my top 10 favorite makeup products of all time!
lets go!

#10: E.l.f Hypershine Gloss in the shade "Vixen"
This has to be one of my favorite lipglosses ever! i love the vibrant cherry red color that can be worn with anything. It gives you that sexy red lipstick look, without overpowering the rest of your makeup :0) This lipgloss is a great buy since it's only $1, and great quality I extremely recommend you try one out :0)

#9: Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara
This is the perfect mascara! The brush is long and thin, so it
catches every lash. This mascara is great at lengthening lashes, and you can build up layers for extra volume. It is also available in waterproof which is amazing :0) This is under $10 which is a great buy compared to some high end products, and it is amazing quality for a drugstore brand.

#8: CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blast "bronze fire"
Of all the CoverGirl products i own, i would have to say that this is my favorite. This 2 step shadow creates a flawless smoky eye with no effort at all. the 6 different shades means you can create any look day or night, but i love the neutral "bronze fire" the most, because it is great for an easy every day look.

#7: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
I love this foundation! I have tried a few recently, but have finally settled on this one in the shade 115. I like this because it is a very lightweight formula, and it goes on very smoothly. It covers up redness well and evens out my skin tone. Without a powder to set it however it does look shiny, but it can be easily blended. The only problem I have had with this is when I bought it I bought the wrong shade, as it is very hard to determine your shade just by looking at the bottle. i suggest testing the product first before purchasing to make sure you get your perfect shade :) this is a very in expensive product and i suggest checking it out if you're searching for a new "go to" foundation :)

#6: Stila Eye Shadow Trio in the shade "goddess"
This Eye shadow pan is amazzinggg for creating a quick easy gorgeous neutral eye. it has three colors in it, a pale, shimmery, pinkish brown for a highlight, a dark chocolate brown for a crease color, and a shimmery gold for a base color. these colors are so pigmented and blend so well together for a look that looks like it took hours to create, in less than a minute. with the convenience of these colors being all in the same pan its so easy to drop it into your purse for touch ups on the go

#5: Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in the shade "Flawless"
     This.is.amazing.
This cheek stain applies so smoothly and gives your cheeks a gorgeous subtle pink glow that is great for summer! plus, creamy cheek stains last much longer on your skin in hot weather than powdered blushes, so you can keep your glow for longer :) this cheek stain is made with all natural products too, so it not only makes your skin look good, but helps it stay good too. i also love that it is slightly lemon scented! The Stain is naturally scented, so it wont irritate your skin either.

#4: Benefit Stay Don't Stray
Stay Don't Stray is the perfect name for this product! It is a thick creamy concealer and primer in 1! this is great for on your eyes for concealing and priming in one step. It is also great for concealing pimples and redness because it's so thick and creamy. This product is a little pricey at around $24, but if you are looking for a great concealer or primer, this is what you want, and with one shade fits all, you cant go wrong! :0)

#3: Stila Smudge Pot in "Kitten"
If you have never tried one of Stila's Smudge Pots, you are missing out my friend. These pots are multi use and are so easy to use! they are a rich creamy formula that can be used for an eye shadow, eyeliner and probably much more! The Smudge Pot in the shade Kitten is so useful for me to smudge on for an eye shadow quickly in the morning, or used with a brush for a brightening eye liner. i also love to use a dab for a highlighter along my cheekbones for a natural glow. this shade will go with any look and us great for using as a base under another color. if you have not tried any of these Smudge Pots i recommend you trying one out!

#2: MAC Viva Glam Lipstick in the shade "GAGA"
this lipstick is unbelievable!! not only is it the
awesome  MAC lipstick quality, but has the stunning flair of Gaga in it! it is the brightest, cutest pink lipstick i have ever laid eyes on. it applies so smoothly and last for a long time too! when i went to buy this lipstick i was debating between a few shades, but then this caught my eye at the end of the row and i instantly knew i had to have it!! i love this color and have never seen another lipstick that could compare to it! if you have never tried out MAC lipsticks before i strongly suggest trying one out you will not regret it!

#1: BH Cosmetics 88 Standard Shimmer Palette
And finally, my number 1 favorite product, The BH 88 shimmer palette. words cannot express how much i love this palette!! The colors are so vibrant and pigmented, and there is every color there that you could ever need, you will save so much money from buying individual eyeshadows because you will have every color you need! BH also has a 88 Standard Matte palette, with the same colors, only matte. these palettes are such a good buy at under $20 each, and you cannot beat the quality! If you're looking for a amazing quality palette with a can't beat price, you will definitely wan't to check out the BH Cosmetics 88 Standard Shimmer Palette :0)

And so now, my post is finished. hope you enjoyed reading and come back to check out more beauty tutorials and reviews at www.thecosemetition.blogspot.com  :0)

hopefully now lizzy will stop nagging at me to do a post :P

Balloon Nails

Well, I was looking for a fun nail design that could be used whenever, and viola! I stumbled upon (literally)  this cute little idea and decided to try it out. It's somewhat challenging to get those clouds to be just right, but i somehow managed to make them look halfway decent. Use this for a reminder of what a sunny day it is, or a pick-me-up on those gloomy, stormy days.

For the blue backround, I used Petites' #554 Baby Blue. For the clouds, I used Color Club's white art brush. For the balloons, I used Kiss's red and black Nail Art Paint.

Have fun!

Mickey Mouse Nails!

Here's a cute Mickey Mouse design I just made up. Use it wisely :]

Awesome Aquarium Nails!!

Hey guys!! So I was scanning Google Images for some ideas today, and I saw this turtle design. It was SO cute, but I didn't have the brown that I needed, what a shame! Then I decided to use my creativity to make a bigger and better nail design, so I came up with my aquarium idea. It's more of an outrageous design, so only use it for an aquarium themed party, Halloween, or some other appropriate time. This is deinitely not a good idea for a formal occasion.

So here are the step-by-step instructions on how to make this awesome design. (Sorry I don't have a zoomed-out picture, I sorta forgot...)
First coat your nails in white polish. Make sure its very smooth and neat!

Then, without shaking or mixing the paint at ALL, cover the white polish with a thin coat of blue nail polish. I used Confetti: #67 Blue Bombshell.

Now, using a yellow or gold polish, make a small patch of "sand" at the base of your nail. Then lightly dot the "sand" with a black or daark brown polish.

Now, using a light green detail brush, draw in some seaweed. All you have to do is just make three wiggly lines that connect when they meet the sand. Simple! If you want, you can outline the seaweed with a darker green. That's what I did.

Finally, start to draw in some undersea animals. Here are some ideas if you want them! Here is a crab and a couple of bubbles. To make the crab, dot some red where you want the body to be. Then, using a toothpick or orange stick drag the paint to make antennas and legs.

Here I have the turtle that started it all! I made him out of dots.

I used the technique I used for the crab to make this yellow fish. I put a dot where I wanted the body to be. Then I used a toothpick to make a tail.

Finally, we have a jellyfish. I just used a detail brush to make him.

I hope you like it!

Simple Summer Look

This one is pretty easy. Just a cute lavender toe (Confetti #71-Belle of the Ball) and french tips!
I thought this would be a perfect time to give some seasonal tips:

RULES FOR WEARING NAIL COLOR IN DIFFERENT SEASONS

1) The cooler the nail color, the warmer the season you should wear it in. For example: my lavender polish is a cooler color, therefore it should be worn in the spring or summer. My deep dark red that I used for Pikachu is very warm of a color, so it should be worn in the fall or winter.
2) For the neutral colors (black, brown, white, silver, gold), wear them like this:
Winter: If it is very snowy, wear a black or silver color to contrast the white of the snow. DO NOT WEAR WHITE WHEN THERE IS SNOW ON THE GROUND. AT. ALL.
Fall: Wear colors to match the leaves, like brown, orange, or gold. DO NOT WEAR WHITE IN THE FALL.
3) Frenches are an all-year look. Wear them whenever, but try and spice them up sometimes, maybe add a design here and there.
4) Save the long nails for the winter, in the summer you look sorta out of place with really long nails. Cut 'em down.

I hope this all helped!
Oh, and has anyone ever heard of duck nails? Google them, they look rediculous to me.

Pikachu Nails!!!!

Okay so as you can probably tell I'm way too excited over this new nail design. It's just your average pikachu on about 10 nails... but at least 99.9999% more AWESOME. Like seriously? Who isn't swooning over how cute my little pikachu is, she's just so adorable<333333

Anyways, now that my pointless ranting is done, its time for buisness. For the base I used Sally Hansen's INSTA-DRY nail color in #10 (Lightning). Then i did the stripes using my Kiss Nail Art Paint in Black. I did the pikachu in the same black and the white color from the same company, and the blush was a little more difficult. Unfortunately, I'm out of toothpicks :( so I had to improvise. I used a thumbtack! I just dipped the point of the thumbtack in my ORLY Nail Lacquer (the color is Down Right Red), plopped a little dot of polish on each side a VIOLA! Masterpiece. Feel free to use this idea any time you feel a little... Pokemony. For an added bonus, keep a mini Poke Ball in your pocket with pikachu inside :]

Enjoy!!!

My favorite nail products

Hey! Sorry about not posting for like 2 weeks, I've been VERY busy :]

So today I thought I'd give you guys the scoop on my favorite brands, products, tips and tricks, and styles that you can use on your own at home.

FAVORITE NAIL BRANDS:
-OPI
My ABSOLUTE favorite. Their brushes are magical, they are so soft that with one stroke you can cover an entire nail! Also, they have really rich colors and only require 1 or 2 coates. To make them even better, it takes virtually no time to dry and still keeps a luminescent shine for a long long time :]
-Color Club
An iffy brand, but good enough to be one of my favorites. I love the variety of colors they offer, and a lot of their colors are really bold and smooth. Only problem is that it takes forever to dry :/
-Sally Hansen
Now let me explain myself here. The quality of Sally Hansen's products are very sparatic. Some are amazing, and some are God awful. For instance, SH's nail art pen, terrible cheap product that lasts for about 4 days before either breaking or running out of "polish". But SH's Maximum Growth Cuticle and Nail Moisture Treatment Pen, works like a charm and is easy to use, and smells like almonds :D
Be careful when picking products from this brand, avoid SH's Instant Dry polish, it's of terrible quality.

FAVORITE NAIL POLISHES:
-OPI: At First Sight
-Color Club: Flair
-Wet N' Wild Wild Shine: Dream poppy
-OPI: Lucky Lucky Lavender
-Essie: Autumn Leaves
-Confetti: Wedding White

FAVORITE NAIL PRODUCTS:
~Polish Remover
-Up&Up Nourishing Nail Polish Remover (it's a blue liquid with a blue gem on it)
~Cuticle Moisturizer
-Sally Hansen's Maximum Growth Cuticle and Nail Moisture Pen
~Nail Clippers
-I'm not really sure, they're black with blue grips haha
~Topcoats
-Sally Hansen's Super Shine Shiny Top Coat (it has a nice soft brush that coats your whole nail in one swipe. i like that, as you can tell haha)

FAVORITE ART BRUSHES:
Anything that comes from "Kiss Nail Art Paint"
That stuff is absolutely amazing. It comes in a pack of 3 usually, and with the pack you get two sets of stencils. They work SO well, I reccomend it to every single one of you. It is by far the best nail art paint I have ever found. Period.

FAVORITE NAIL TIPS AND TRICKS:
-If you want to make a design with a color you already have, but you don't have an art brush, use either a toothpick or cut a paintbrush  so it's thin enough. Works like a charm every time! **Beware of the toothpick, getting the polish right on the tip can be tricky. Try pouring some of your polish out onto a paper plate and dip the toothpick into that instead**
-If your brush isn't soft enough to coat your nail with one swipe, use the 3 stroke technique. You first make one stroke right in the center of the nail, re-dip your brush, do a second stroke on the left side of the nail, re-dip again, and finish with a third stroke on the right side of the brush. This evenly coats your nail with a rich color throughout, and also prevents those pesky streaks.
-If your nail polish is hard to get open, try some of the following!
     1) Tie a rubber band around the cap, and then twist it off.
     2) Dip **THE CAP ONLY** in hot hot hot water (if you dip the whole thing in the water, the polish will thin out)
     3) Pliers work wonders.
-When using a stencil, make sure the base coat is completely dry before applying it. Otherwise the stencil paper will take off all your nail polish and you will be a very unhappy camper
-If you have small toenails like me, instead of swiping the brush up your teeny tiny toenails, swipe it across. If it gets messy, dip a Q-Tip into polish remover and clean up all the excess. Remember to splash on some cuticle oil to prevent drying.
-When cutting your nails, instead of using the clipper to shape them, clip your nails straight across (this may hurt a little as your nail will bend) and file them to shape
-People say not to shake your nail polish and to roll it gently between your fingers, screw them. It's okay to shake your nail polish. It does nothing to the quality of the color or the texture.

I hope you guys took some of this mumbo-jumbo and put it to good use! I'll see y'all later :]

My fourth (and final... for now) design

So I was over at Emily's today, and she had Sally Hansen's Insta-Dry yellow nail polish, and personally I LOVE funky colors like yellow, lime green, and purple. Unfortunately, I don't have any crazy colors like that (yet), so I had to find a design to use yellow with. So then I went to Google and found this design, and I fell in love. Thus, my design was born. The dots are pretty messy because Emily and I were laughing about God knows what throughout the time when I was doing my nails, so I apologize for that. Anyways, here it is!

My third design

My third design was inspired by that 1-UP mushroom from Mario. I always liked that little guy, it saved me from dying about 60,000 times when I was little, so I decided to dedicate an entire hand to it. The only problem with this design is that it kind of looks like you have grass under your nails, or at least thats what my parents say :P

I started out with a french tip, and then added a green line right above the white tip. For the mushroom, I made the white tip more large and rounded, and then shaped the green to contour the white. Then I added two black lines for eyes and dotted the green top with white, and viola! Masterpiece!

My second design

I used this design for my middle school graduation, the whole outfit will be coming soon. But for now, this look was inspired by my math teacher's shoes actually. They were zebra heels with pink outlines, and I absolutely ADORE them. If I had the time I would've went to DSW to get them (that was my original idea), but I didn't. This is one of my more difficult designs, so it's a little messy.

I started out with a white base, and then painted on the pink. Once that dried I made all the zebra stripes, and finished off with the silver diagonal line. For my outfit, I chose a simple halter top black dress and black heels, and I got my hair cut that day so I left it down and straightened. This was more of a semi-formal look, so only use it for a party or for a night out with your friends, not a special occasion like Christmas.

My first design

Well, I think that now is a good time to begin sharing my designs. I have a lot of catching up to do, so keep up!

My first design is a simple french tip with a stenciled in flower. The stencil I used is from this combination pack with 3 different art brushes (black, white, and silver) and 3 different stencils. It's from Sally Hansen. The designs on the stencil include flowers, different line designs, and other random things. I use it a lot, the only problem is that the stencils get messy when you trace over them. Also, you can only use them if your nail is dry, so the art pops off the nail itself. Other than that I'm pretty happy with them, so go out an buy them!

Well hello there ;)

Heyy there Emily Here :)
This is just a quick lil post for me to say hi amd introduce myself.
So, as i think lizzy said earlier, im 14 years old and have a (slight) addiction to make up and anything related to beauty! ;) I realy got into it last summer when i started making some money from babysitting, so i bought some makeup, and it sort of spiraled outwards from there! I love to do my friends makeup for parties and occasions and Lizzy is my main victim hahaha :)

So lizzy and i had always wanted to do somesort of beauty related thing together, but just never had gotten around to it and could never find the time to do it together. Until a few days ago, Lizzy called me and said "hey you wanna do a blog together?" and there it started :) were hoping that we can get atleast a few people to follow this blog, so that we can help other people get better with beauty like other people did with us :)

It's The Start of Something New

Hey guys! This is our first post and we're both really excited to be sharing our talents with you all!

Lets start out by introducing ourselves. This blog is run by two really talented artists, Lizzy Clark and Emily McPartlin. Lizzy is 13 years old and lives in NJ. She began her hobby by going to the nail salon every two weeks with her mom since she was a baby. She would watch the women do her mom's nails and subconciously learn little tips and tricks. When she got a little older, she began asking questions about how to do nails the right way, and then polished off her training with the classic "trial and error" technique. Now, she does her own and her friend's nails very often, getting ideas from her brain and from professional nail artists. With this blog, she hopes to give advice about painting nails to those seeking help.

(Emily's intro will be coming soon)

This blog isn't strictly about makeup and nails, though. Quite often you'll find that we'll add in little segments on hair, fashion, and many other interesting topics. Whenever you see something that you like, be sure to comment and share it with your friends!

In addition to a blog, we also have a shared YouTube account that can be found in this link. If you love what we do, be sure to subscribe!

There will be more posts to come later on in the week, so keep a sharp eye out.
Happy Summer!!
